Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is an exciting new technology that will revolutionise the way you make phone calls.

Reduce telecommunication call cost by up to 84%.

VoIP allows you to make and receive inexpensive telephone calls over your existing broadband connection at a fraction of the cost, using the phone set you already have.

Easy to use

While the technology behind VoIP is sophisticated it is easy to use.  It works just like a normal phone and is simple to set up.

To start saving with Pacnet Vocal all you need is a broadband connection, a phone handset and a Pacnet supplied phone adapter.   You don’t even have to be a Pacnet broadband customer to join just call us at SGS on 02 8916 2997.

Schloeffel General Services and Pacnet recommends a minimum broadband speed of 512/128kbps to ensure good call quality.

Why use VoIP?

Benefits of VoIP include:

  • 10 cents untimed local calls
  • Low national and international call rates
  • No long term contract
  • No change to your existing phone setup
  • No flagfall fees

How does VoIP work?

Special Hardware converts your voice packets so they can be transmitted over the Internet or a private network, rather than using the traditional phone system.  Once these packets reach the receiving end, will be converted back so that the person you are calling will hear your phone conversation like normal.
